Dropout have been busy over the summer. Apart from recovering from the brilliant 3rd birthday in July with the heads-down house of Bearweasel at the forefront, we’ve been living it up at festivals in Serbia, the UK and beyond. But our reason to live is giving you the best in house music, and we’ve put our game faces on to bring you one of London’s freshest producers for our next instalment on 15th October. Ben’s someone we’ve literally been trying to get down for years. Having been previously dogged by venue changes, gig clashes and sheer bad luck, the London DJ, producer and general man about town will throw his rabbit’s foot away and finally grace the decks at the Star in October.
Ben’s had a string of releases recently on the likes of Black Sheep, Baker Street and Bigger Deer and we’re delighted to get him down for what will be our second last party of the year. After last time’s 3rd birthday highpoint we’ve got a tough act to follow, but we’ll be filling the Star with all the four corners of house music as we enter our fourth year. Expect house music of the highest order alongside residents Guy Hornsby, Jamie Richards and Stef Lesik.
As ever, the serious effort goes into Dropout’s commitment to shit-hot music, free from big club pretention. It’s all getting back to good quality music in a venue that cares more about the beats than the boat shoes. So welcome the summer in style and come down and help us blow out the candles at The Star Of Bethnal Green on the 11th June to turn on, tune in and Dropout.
Ben Gomori (Baker Street/We Love…. Fresh Blood)
After working alongside other producers such as Saytek (for their EP on Berwick Street Records in 2009, The Sauce EP), 2010 saw Londoner Ben Gomori embark on his solo career. Encompassing a range of four-four styles, his debut EP was released by Leeds’ Baker Street Records, remixes on Electric Sheep, Cubism,and Baker Street and an EP earlier this year for Black Sheep Trax, with support from everyone as diverse as Soul Clap and Slam to Jim Masters and Nick Warren. With pedigree like that, we should be in for a treat on the 15th.
As a DJ, he’s a former resident of legendary clubs Turnmills, The Cross and The Key, and was chosen as a We Love…Fresh Blood winner. He’s graced Global Gathering, Creamfields and Hungary’s Sziget Festival, while he made his debut at Ibiza’s We Love Space and the acclaimed Secret Garden Party in summer 2010, where he returned triumphantly this year, with standout gigs at the Gottwood Festival, aside Leeds, XOYO, Brighton and Cambridge. Always bringing his unquenchable thirst for the party, we’ll be enjoying Ben’s set from the dancefloor, as it begs to be.
